Scratching Post Fall 2024

Kudos to Leann!!

It is always a good day when someone takes the time to write a letter about the excellent customer service they received, and even better when it is not actually cat related!  Recently we received just such a letter from a gentleman who found an injured Cooper's Hawk while out riding his bike.

Leann was able to give this gentleman a phone number for a place that would take injured birds but it took her awhile to track the number down. The gentleman had to call a few different extension numbers before getting a person, who then told him to bring the injured bird to them.

Mr. Davidson said if it was not for Leann’s persistence in getting him the phone number, this “beautiful baby hawk” probably would not have made it. Thank you Leann, for being so helpful, even when it is not cat related!!

Bowl-A-Thon

Our Annual Bowl-a-thon was a sold out event (as usual), and a fun time was had by all, bowling for Hi/Lo Score prizes and Mystery Score prizes, and raffles, including a 50/50. Sun Cities 4 Paws received a pile of donations and we raised a total of over $4800 for the cats!

Sponsor a Shelter Cat

Our Sponsor a Shelter Resident program helps care for those cats that have a hard time finding a home and may have been at the shelter for quite a while, like Dosido, pictured.

Dosido has been with us for over 6 years, and he is finally making progress with the socializers. His favorite place to nap is in one of our wall boxes.

We currently have 4-5 cats like Dosido, who are waiting for that perfect match to come walking in. If you would like to

help us care for these cats,  you can

donate HERE and choose ‘Sponsor a

Shelter Resident’ from the dropdown

Follow-up on Eye Cats

Follow-up on the eye cat/kittens: Orge, Bronwyn and Carolina have all had their eye surgeries in the last two weeks. Unfortunately little Tamlin did not make it to surgery, he had some other underlying medical issues and we lost him on Sunday. All of the others are recovering well from surgery and are at various stages of recovery. All of us at Sun Cities 4 Paws are grateful for the outpouring of support we received for these cats. Thank you! Here are some before and after pics (Yes, Ogre lost a leg and then an eye). If you wish to help with their continued care until ready for adoption, click HERE and choose ‘The Lucky Fund’ from the donation drop down options.

Surrender to Foster

Every year, from mid-February to October, shelters are bursting due to all the litters being born (kittens and puppies!) It becomes impossible to surrender an animal, much less a litter because every place is full, Sun Cities 4 Paws is no exception.  But we do have a program that will allow you to ‘Surrender to Foster’ the cat or kittens you need to bring in. This program basically asks you to surrender and then foster, while we get the cat or kittens adoption ready. This means you would need to bring the cat in for needed vaccines and sterilization. The program normally takes about 3 to 4 weeks and you will have an intake date in that time frame also (for adults). Kittens take longer and the amount of time depends on how old they are when they enter the program.  For more information about the ‘Surrender to Foster’ Program, email information@4pawsrescue.org
