Presidents Message
As I enter my first year as Board President of Sun Cities 4 Paws, I want to thank NInette Sellar for her three years of leadership as Board President. Ninette continues to give her time and talent as a board member and volunteer. I look forward to her contributions in the year ahead.
I would also like to thank our volunteers. What a GREAT group we have! Together they contributed 14,000 in 2023, WOW!! Thank you for your continued support, especially now in the midst of kitten season.
I am looking forward to a fun filled year as we navigate the daily challenges of animal sheltering and rescue.

June 8th 2024 11am-2pm: Fry's/Kroger "For Your Pets" event. Come out and see us at Fry's, 16380 W Yuma Rd, Goodyear AZ on Saturday, June 8th and learn more about Sun Cities 4 Paws Rescue and all that we do! Informational booth only - no cats available for adoption.
August 4th, 2024 1pm-4pm: Sun Cities 4 Paws Annual 9-Pin No-Tap Bowl-a-Thon at Lakeview Lanes, 10502 W Thunderbird Ave, Sun City AZ. Come join us for an afternoon of fun, prizes and raffles! Temporary Fosters
Our Temporary Foster Program is for any cat or kitten that needs a temporary home for various reasons. Some of the reasons we need temporary foster people would be for weight loss, surgery recovery or additional socialization. Sun Cities 4 Paws would cover any medications and/or recommendations, along with veterinary visits as determined by our veterinarian.
Permanent Fosters
Our Permanent Foster Program is for cats that have not found a home due to age or special medical needs. Since we are in a large retirement community, we get many cats that are older or have developed medical needs, or others that just need to be monitored. Sun Cities 4 Paws would cover medications and/or other recommendations, along with veterinary visits as determined by our veterinarian
Available Cats
We are spotlighting our FIV+ & FeLV+ cats in this edition of the Scratching Post. These cats are all very loving and they would love to be in a home or back in a home.
FIV (Feline Immuno Virus) and FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus) are 2 types of blood diseases that cats can get (usually from fighting outside with another positive cat or from birth). If a cat or kitten tests positive for either of these, it does not mean they have the disease, just that they carry it. There is no way to determine if either type will ever become active. Many of these cats can live long and happy lives. We recommend that cats or kittens that are positive for FIV or FeLV be the only cat or with other cats with the same type of blood disease.
Atwell FIV+
Atwell came in on a transfer from a rescue that was closing. He is 1 1/2 years old and is a friendly, mellow guy. He is ok with other cat and he likes to climb up high to survey the area. He is also really good at hide & seek! Atwell is FIV+ and should be the only cat or with another FIV+ cat.
Big Mama FIV+
Big Mama came to us as an owner surrender and she is just over a year old. She is a very sweet girl who is a little shy at first. She likes being pet and scratched on her neck. She is very curious and likes to explore every nook and cranny when she is out of her cage. Big Mama is FIV+ and should be the only cat or with another FIV+ cat.
Prima FeLV+
Prima is an 8 month old adorable grey smoke color kitten. She is very friendly and affectionate. She warms up to people quickly and likes to be held and coddled, likes to climb and explore and loves to play with her toys. She loves wet food and her new owner should kindly provide this to her. Prima is FeLV+ and should be the only cat or with another FeLV+ cat.
Maximo FeLV+
Maximus is a 2 year old male, who was left at one of our thrift store volunteers front door, along with his vet records. He is very loving and purrs immediately when touched. He is super friendly and and not at all shy. Maximo is FeLV+ and should be the only cat or with another FeLV+ cat
Kitten Fosters Needed!
There are different types of kitten foster homes: socialization of young, weaned kittens, caring for mother cats to raise their young, and feeding and providing loving care for the neonates without moms. Without these foster homes, many of these cats and kittens would not survive.If you are interested or want more information please contact our kitten foster coordinator at melissa.penny@4pawsrescue.org
